The Wiccan Elements

Posted by: Nightclad   in Basics of Wicca

The classical Elements and their attributes are laid out in a convenient table. Many ancient practices and philosophies use a set of archetypal classical Elements to explain patterns in nature. The Wiccan Elements are very important for Wicca. They are Air, Fire, Water, Earth and Aether (Spirit).

Symbols of the Elements are used for protection and spells. The Elements are connected with each and every process in Nature. They are symbolic of physical, spiritual and emotional attributes. Each practitioner must learn and feel the Elements. It takes time to contemplate and understand them. Be personal - read the tables, learn about the Wiccan Elements and try to see them all around you.

Many Wiccans do meditate on these elements. The knowledge of The Elements is very important in herbal lore and other magick practices.

Wicca Element Air Air represents the mind and intelligence, communication, telepathy, psychic powers, inspiration, imagination, ideas, knowledge, dreams and wishes. In rituals, Air is represented in the forms of tossing objects into the wind, aromatherapy, songs, and hiding things in high places. It rules spells involving travels, instruction, freedom, knowledge, discovering lost items, and can also be used to develop psychic faculties. Air also rules the visualization.

I really need help. I am making a outside sanctuary and I want to plant four trees in by the elements they represent. I have searched and could not find it. Your site came the closest but still did not give me names of any trees. I want to plant some floweral trees just because the are so great and show all the grace. If you could point me in the right direction I would strongly be grateful for you help.
Thanks
Mariposa

Thank you, Mariposa for the inspiration. I have added new information to my Wiccan Elements table. All you have to do now is listen to your intuition. Once you have freed your mind from thoughts and prejudice, you will find it easy to make a choice and the right trees will come to you.
Best of luck and blessings.

blackmask, Laura - your Zodiac sign doesn’t matter too much. I am Air but I cannot tell, which is my favourite element. Just like Laura I am too very attracted by water. However, if you want to create a special bond with your Wicca element, you may want to perform a simple ritual involving an action corresponding to your element (see the table row “Ritual Action”)

alex, you may wish to look into this: http://www.wicca.in/how-to-become-a-wiccan/

Thank you for the comments.

This greatly helped me,
I was confused in how to figure out my element. I had a slight suspicision it might be water for the simple fact that I not only repel hot things such that relate to fire, but also because I’m attracted to it unconciously. I find myself sitting outside on a wet day, or taking hour long showwer. Swimming is my favorite thing todo as well. I’m a pisces, and the odd thing is my favorite season is Autum, I love all shades of blue, taste is my best sense, and twilight is my favorite part of the day (I commonly walk to the park just to see the sunset and walk home in the dark). It scares me how much I relate to this. But it helped me greatly. I have no doubts that Water is my element now.

Okay, is your element based on your star sign? Example: I’m an Aries and it is said I’m associated with fire. Or is there some way to “specialize” to totally define it? I’ve always felt different than fire, though I do like it
